Innovation Award

To be eligible for this award, the product or service must have been developed by the applicant and earned revenue for the first time during the previous three years (from Nov. 2, 2008). Please provide a brief description of the following: product/service; the marketplace the product or service meets; evidence of satisfying the market need; the advantage over similar or previous versions of this product; how the product benefits Michigan’s economy; and why the product/service is unique.

Urban Entrepreneur/Small Business of the Year Award

To be considered for this award, entrepreneurs and companies must meet the following for the year ending 2011:

  1. Headquartered in a designated urban community (e.g., including but not limited to Saginaw, Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Lansing) for a minimum of three years
  2. Six to 99 employees, and $750,000 to $50-million in revenues, with demonstrated growth in employment and/or revenue in two of the past five years
  3. Evidence of customer receipts from markets beyond the service area of Michigan, from regional or global markets
  4. Demonstrated potential necessary for long-term business success and economic growth

Main Street USA Award

This award is given to a client of the  MI-SBTDC who participated in a substantial amount of MI-SBTDC programs  that resulted in a positive impact on the company in areas such as  access to capital, development and implementation of a strategic plan,  entry into new markets, etc.

Government Contracting Award

This award goes to a Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) of Michigan client whose efforts have helped him or her to win or come substantially closer to winning a government contract.
